What tessura is, and is not

tessura is an independent study tool and credential tracker for security professionals. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or a substitute for the California Bureau of Security and Investigative Services (BSIS) or any state agency. tessura is not a BSIS-certified training provider: using this app does not satisfy any state training requirement, and passing our practice exams does not license you to work as a security guard.

No legal advice; verify with the source

Content is prepared from primary sources and re-verified periodically, but regulations, fees, and deadlines change. The app's deadline calculations are conveniences, not guarantees, the dates printed on your credentials and the requirements published by your state agency always control. Nothing in tessura is legal advice.

Your account

You are responsible for the accuracy of the information you enter (credential dates drive your reminders) and for keeping your login secure. You must be at least 18 to use tessura.

Subscriptions

Premium features are sold as auto-renewing subscriptions through the Apple App Store or Google Play. Prices are shown before purchase; trials convert automatically unless cancelled before the trial ends; you can cancel any time in your store account settings. Refunds are handled by the store per its policies. The credential wallet and compliance reminders are free and do not require a subscription.

Company plans and founding companies

Security companies choose a plan described on the pricing page. During the launch period every company plan is $0; we will email every company at least 30 days before any paid plan starts billing, and the Starter plan stays free. Guards and clients never pay.

Founding companies. The first 25 licensed security companies whose job posting goes live on tessura on or before December 31, 2026 (counted in the order postings go live) keep the Growth plan at $0 for as long as the company account stays open. A posting counts when the company publishes it or asks us in writing to publish it for them; a listing we copied from a company's careers page counts only once the company claims it and publishes it as its own. The founding plan carries the features Growth has on the day the company qualifies; if plans are renamed or restructured, the company moves to whichever plan carries those features, still at $0. It is one per company (branches and affiliates under the same license share it), stays with the company if the company is sold and keeps operating under the same license, and cannot be sold or assigned on its own. It ends only if the company closes its account, loses its state license and does not regain it within 12 months, or the account is suspended for breaking these terms. A founding company may move to a higher plan at that plan's price and return to Growth at $0 at any time.

The network, jobs, and hiring

Publishing a profile, applying to a job, or accepting a contact request shares the information described at the moment you act, applying, for example, shares your name, profile, and email with the posting company. Job postings, staffing requests, and company pages are content their authors are responsible for: tessura is a venue, not a party to any employment or service contract formed between users, and does not vet, employ, or guarantee any guard, company, or client. Verify licensure with the issuing state authority before hiring; "state-verified" badges reflect a registry check on a specific date, not a continuing guarantee.

Reviews

Company reviews must reflect your first-hand experience. By submitting one you grant tessura a perpetual, royalty-free license to display it. Reviews are pre-moderated against our published policy (first-hand, factual, no names of individuals, no confidential client or site-security details) and may be rejected or removed under that policy. We do not remove reviews merely for being negative. Reviews are the opinions of their authors, not of tessura.

Text message alerts

If you add a phone number to a job alert, you consent to receive automated job-alert text messages from tessura at that number. Consent is not a condition of using the service. Message and data rates may apply; frequency varies with job postings. Reply STOP to any message or remove the alert in your dashboard to stop. We never use your number for marketing or share it with employers.

Acceptable use

Do not copy, scrape, resell, or redistribute question content; do not reverse engineer the service; do not use tessura to violate any law. Do not post false credentials, fake reviews, fraudulent job postings, or staffing requests you do not intend to fill; do not harvest contact information from the network. We may suspend accounts and remove content that abuse the service.

Intellectual property

All question content, explanations, and branding are original works owned by tessura. Statutes and public documents cited as sources remain public; our expressions of them are ours.

Disclaimers and limitation of liability

The service is provided "as is." To the maximum extent permitted by law, tessura disclaims all warranties and is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, including missed deadlines, lapsed credentials, lost wages, or exam outcomes. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim.
