How to become a security guard in Minnesota

Minnesota licenses protective agent companies rather than individual guards, but every guard must complete 12 hours of board-certified pre-assignment training within 21 days of hire and 6 hours of refresher training annually (MN Rule 7506.2600).

- Keep the certificate of completion — instructors must issue one showing subjects and hours.
